The New Zealand Sound Map
Online and geo-locative/site-specific, New Zealand (2012-2014)
The New Zealand Sound Map was a online sound map/archive of field-recordings populated by field-recording practitioners from around New Zealand. The recordings could be accessed and listened to online through a geo-tagged google-map interface or in the immediate location in which they were recorded (within a 500 meter radius) through a prototype smartphone app.
The project aimed to facilitate creative engagement with our technologically mediated experience of sound & spatiality, via ubiquitous modes of recording and playback, and network technologies.
